Technical details for ready to use PCR kit Mycoplasma hominis (gel agarose based)

K040 Mycoplasma hominis, 100 reactions

Mycoplasma hominis is a pathogenic mycoplasma, which has been isolated from the urogenital tract of 40% asymptomatic males as well as females in human beings. It is a proven cause of pelvic inflammatory disease, postpartum septicemia and endocarditis, clinical amnionitis and pyelonephritis. It is the major cause of pnemonia and central nervous system infections in new borne infants. It is being recognised a common cause of septicemia, arthritis, surgical wound infections as well as peritonitis in immunocompromised patients, therefore there is a need of laboratory diagnosis. This laboratory diagnosis can be done through culture methods (which takes a longtime as Mycoplasma goes slowly and needs special media), serological methods like ELISA as well as FAT, which are prone to cross reactions, therefore the PCR is merging as a goldstandard for detection of micro organisms in medicine as this is highly sensitive and specific also. Moreover PCR needs a little material to conduct the test.

Target gene: highly conserved region of gene of Mycoplasma hominis.

Kinds of samples: genital swabs, cervix swabs, respiratory system swabs, cardiac probes, wound swabs, peritoneal fluid swabs, colonies grown on cultures, systematic swabs, blood samples, tissue samples and other body fluid samples. This kit needs isolated DNA, which can be isolated using commercial available kits or home made methods.

Components of the kit: polymerase, forward and backward primers, nucleotides, buffers, PCR master mix, loading dye, gene ruler (100 bp), positive control, negative control as well as manual.

Validations: It has been tested for cross reactions with related and non related micror organisms like Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma genitalium, Coxiella burnetii, Staphylococcus aureus, Bordetella pertusis, Bordetella parapertusis, Chlamydia pneumoniae, healthy human DNA, Cytomegalovirus and many more. It is tested for serial dilutions.

Sensitivity: 10-15 fg of Mycoplasma hominis
