Cytomegalovirus
Technical Details
FR016 Cytomegalovirus, 100 reactions
Standard laboratory technique for herpes detection is cell culture as one recognise the virus through cytopathic affects as well as later on serological detection. CMV causes many diseases and it is present in latent form in body. Many studies have shown that PCR is the reliable method to detect the herpes viruses as well as other viruses and more specific to detect them against their detection in cell culture. Moreover PCR is the fastest method as the results with the real time PCR can be finished within 3-4 hours. Moreover one can see the load of the virus in real time PCR and this can be monitored during the preventative measurements.
Target gene: highly conserved region of CMV
Kind of probes: body fluids like saliva, blood (serum), tissue biopsies, nerve tissues, genital biopsies. This kit needs DNA, hence it should be isolated with good quality commercial kit or home made method. Genekam Biotechnology AG can ship you the 3rd party DNA isolation kit.
Key points: The kit has been checked for cross reactions with different herpes viruses like EBV, HSV 1 and 2, VZV and of animal origin like Equine Herpes viruses, Koi´s Herpes virus etc. and with non related micro organisms. They have been used for the different dilutions and for the sensitivity.
Detection limit: 0.1-10 genome copies of CMV
Components of the kit:
Contents of Kit: primern, fluorogenic primers (filter FAM is to used), nucleotides, buffers, molecular water, negative control, positive control and manual. Dyes used are 6-carboxy-fluorscein and 6-carboxytetramethylrhodamine.
Storage: -20 degree
- only for in vitro use
- only for research use
- to be used through technical persons.
