Monkeypox virus (MPXV) is a double stranded DNA virus which is responsible for zoonotic disease as its natural hosts are primates and rodents. This virus was detected long time ago in Copenhagen, Denmark. Recent outbreak is being caused through Clade Ib, therefore this is an emergency action going on. Genekam Biotechnology AG has developed some real time PCR kits to detect this virus.This kit contains all components including mastermix, primers + probes, positive and negative controls; hence user needs to add only 2µl of isolated DNA to 18µl of solutions (total 20µl) run the reaction in real time machine. These kits are highly specific for the pathogens and they have been checked for cross reaction with related and non related pathogens.
